Principal's Message

Dear Sakai Families,

February has started with a flourish of excitement with our annual food drive for Helpline House and our salmon hatching. Thank you to families who have helped your student volunteer for the food drive and/or donated goods. We are halfway through and off to a very strong start! If your child is interested in volunteering, we still have open slots for students to volunteer at our local grocery stores for this upcoming weekend.

Ahead of next week's conferences, first-semester grades will be available for you to see after 4:00 PM this Friday.

Have a great week, Sakai!

Drew

Sakai Spirit

This month the following students were honored for outstanding spirit:

  • Ellery Smith
  • Teo Malatesta
  • Sunny Roe
  • Isabella LeMaster-Donahue
  • Lucas Lincoln

These students invited a friend to attend a pizza party with Mr. Crandall. Thank you to That's a Some Pizza and PTO for sponsoring our student incentive program. The nominations are made in reference to Sakai's Four R's: Responsible, Respectful, Reasonable, Reliable.

Food Drive

Food Drive

IT'S HERE! The annual, colossal, gigantic, I can't believe it......Share the love.... COHO COMMUNITY FOOD DRIVE!!

The food drive runs through Monday, February 9th.

Each student is encouraged to bring items to help us fill the shelves at Helpline House. This is part of our Coho program which includes community service.

Food donations may be dropped off outside in front of the school at the drop off/pick up loop. Please place food donations under the covered canopy. Please write the student's homeroom teacher on all bags and boxes.

Winter Conferences

Wednesday, February 11th, Thursday, February 12th and Friday, February 13th are Winter conference days.

There is no school for students on conference days.

Conferences are an important time to further that home to school, and school to home connection that is so valuable in education. It's a time for students to be recognized for their efforts, and a time for students to re-establish their goals and their dedication toward reaching those goals. Families and teachers work together to support the student. In so doing, families and teachers show the caring and teamwork that is a crucial connection in a student's education.

Teachers will be contacting families to sign up for conferences and are looking forward to conferencing with all of you.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteer Opportunities

February Conferences - Let's Feed Our Teachers & Staff
Conference week means long days and lots of meetings for our amazing teachers and staff, so we’re putting together lunches and coffee to keep them fueled and feeling appreciated. If you’re able to contribute food or coffee during the week, it’s a simple (and delicious!) way to say thank you for all they do for our students. Every contribution helps—and is very much appreciated!

Contra Dance Event Volunteers Needed!
The Sakai PTO is looking for 1-2 volunteers to help plan the Contra Dance Event scheduled to occur on Thursday, April 23rd.

You will work directly with Sakai teachers Katie Gibbs and Amy Evans to plan this fun, family event, including helping with planning details and coordinating volunteers for the event.

Interested or want more information? Contact Magda at sakai.president@bainbridgeptos.org.

Game Room Volunteers for January/February
As the weather gets colder and a little less outdoor-recess-y, our awesome Sakai staff would like to provide a game room alternative during lunch recess! Game Room will be available during recess on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We would love one parent volunteer to supervise each of these. Please sign up for the available slots if you are able.

Please remember that all volunteers who help in the classroom, on field trips, and other various activities must be cleared by the district: Volunteering with BISD. The approval process can take up to two weeks. Once approved, you are ready to volunteer and your approval is valid for two years.

Please bring your driver's license or id each time you sign into any school in the district.

Yearbook Photos Submissions

Yearbook Photos Needed

We would love to get photos of your student to include in the yearbook. That is why we are sending out this QR code to allow you to upload photos directly to the Sakai Josten’s Yearbook site anytime!

You can use this code all year to upload photos of your student participating in any and all activities. Thanks for helping to make this year’s Yearbook amazing!
