Messages of hope at MLK Jr. Assembly

On Tuesday, BHS honored Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at a school assembly organized by the Ethnic Multicultural Student Association and ASB. The BHS jazz band performed, and we heard messages of hope, love and building community from student speakers and community members.

First Semester Finals Schedule

Finals will be held January 21-23. Check out the schedule for the week, including information about Food Service and Transportation.

If your student is unsure of what the plan is for exam day, they (the student) should check in with their teacher to find out. (Use those self-advocacy skills!) Here is a Finals Specific Planner Template for January 2026 to help your student keep track of what their final looks like and a template for getting their work in on time!

New Year = New Learning: Every Day Counts

As we begin the new year, regular school attendance remains an important part of success for high school students—academically, socially, and emotionally. Being at school each day helps students stay on track with credits, manage coursework, and remain connected to teachers and peers as they prepare for graduation and life beyond high school.

Consistent attendance also allows staff to identify early when a student may need additional support, so families and schools can work together before challenges grow. If your family is facing barriers to regular attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help.

Together, we can support students in building strong habits, confidence, and momentum toward their future goals.

BHS Winter Formal ~ January 31

All students and their guests should be familiar with the BISD Dance Guidelines and must also complete this Islandwood form.
