Dear BISD Staff,

It is hard to believe, but here we are in the middle of November! As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday next week, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the gratitude in my heart with each of you:

  • Student artwork in the hallways of our schools
  • The BHS Fall Play-It’s a Wonderful Life!
  • Our steadfast PTO boards and countless parent volunteers
  • Our small, but mighty Grounds crew working in sunshine and in rain
  • BSF working tirelessly to fundraise for the BISD
  • Staff rallying around their colleagues who may be going through a hard time
  • Our student athletes giving their all
  • The passage of the Supplemental Levy
  • Our student groups meeting to bring their voice and leadership to issues that matter
  • Sidewalk chalk messages on our playgrounds
  • The laughter that I hear in our departmental offices, classrooms, and school buildings
  • Our student band members giving high fives and nods of support during their performances
  • Smiles from the office staff at each building
  • Spartronics teams & the way in which they work together
  • The elementary student skipping down the hallway with a smile on their face
  • Our BISD kitchen staff providing healthy, delicious, nourishing meals

Thank you for your exceptional care, dedication and expertise. Thank you for showing up, and giving your best every single day on behalf of every BISD student. I am so grateful to be a BISD parent, and am so proud to be the Superintendent of BISD.

Wishing you a Thanksgiving holiday full of rest, love and peace.

Take good care,
Amii

Two & THREE Hour Delay for Inclement Weather

As part of our ongoing efforts to keep students and staff safe during winter weather, BISD is introducing a three-hour delay option for school start times. BISD now has the flexibility to start school two or three hours late when winter weather impacts travel conditions.

This additional delay provides more flexibility on Tuesdays through Fridays, allowing extra time for roads to be cleared and for everyone to travel safely to school.

Our team has been working hard behind the scenes to make this a viable option on snow and ice days—ensuring that schedules, transportation, and meals are all ready to go when the weather requires extra flexibility.

How to calculate your school start time:
  • A two-hour delay means you’ll add two hours to your regular start time.
  • A three-hour delay means you’ll add three hours to your regular start time.
  • End times will remain the same—the school day will still end at the usual time.

Bus transportation:
  • If BISD announces buses are on snow routes - check the transportation page on our BISD website.
  • If buses are running on regular routes, add 2 or 3 hours to your usual pickup time based on the delay.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate winter weather together. Our goal is always the same: to get everyone to school safely.

It's a Wonderful Life

BHS Theater Presents: It's a Wonderful Life

In our American culture, It’s a Wonderful Life is a natural for a stage adaptation. In our telling of the saga of George Bailey, he is the everyman from the city of Seattle, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty amidst the background of the Boeing Bust (1969-1971). His guardian angel (in the form of a clairvoyant fortune teller) has to save him from despair and to remind him—by showing him what the world would have been like had he never been born—that his has been, after all, a wonderful life. This dramatization celebrates the American philosophy of life: hard work, fair play and the love and support of one's family and community will be rewarded.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online.
