Unity Day was a huge success! Our students and staff came together to celebrate kindness, acceptance, and inclusion, making it a truly special day on our campus. We are beyond grateful to our incredible PTO for generously supporting and funding our annual visit from Taproot Theatre and providing materials that made Unity Day possible.
Leading up to Unity Day, students signed pledges to stand up for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Every class contributed to a school-wide unity chain filled with powerful anti-bullying messages, symbolizing how we are all connected when we treat one another with respect and care. We wrapped up our celebration by taking our annual school-wide Unity Day picture, a wonderful reminder of the strength we have when we come together as one community.

As we move into November, our character trait of the month is Gratitude. Gratitude means recognizing and appreciating the good things in our lives and taking the time to express thanks to others. You can focus on gratitude at home throughout November by sharing something each person is thankful for during dinner or bedtime. Small moments of appreciation can make a big difference in helping children develop thankful hearts!
In addition, aside from attending some conferences this Thursday and Friday, I will be around on these conference days if you’d like to pop in to chat, ask a question, etc.
Always here,
Amanda Keller (she/her), M.Ed.

Conferences are a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, celebrate progress, and discuss ways to support learning at home. Building this partnership helps ensure every student’s success.
There will be no school for students on Thursday, October 30, and Friday, October 31, as we hold parent-teacher conferences.
We look forward to seeing you at conferences!

Supplemental EP&O Levy
Want to understand what BISD’s Supplemental Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy means for our schools and community? Visit our Levy Information Webpage or join an upcoming Zoom information session to get all the details.
Every day in BISD, students are supported by strong academics, creative opportunities, and staff who care for their whole well-being. This levy helps bridge the gap between what the state funds and what it actually costs to provide the education our community values.
The proposed rate is $0.08 per $1,000 of assessed value in 2026, $0.11 in 2027, and $0.13 in 2028—and even with this addition, overall school taxes will decrease as older bond taxes expire.
