Otter Trot Fundraising Updates

You have an adorable Otter
In two weeks they will be a Trotter
So with a skip in your gait
Ask your friends to donate
But please make it more than a quarter
—Robert Frost, probably

Remember, the funds we raise from this drive supports:
  • Yearbooks and beginning-of-year school supplies
  • Fun activities like Boo Bash and Carnival
  • More important things like teacher grants
  • And future poet laureates, probably

And we don’t just need funds to make this drive successful, we need volunteers (and snacks), too! HERE is the sign-up genius where you can pledge your time--look out for another volunteer form for snackables.

Remember: each class that gets above $5000 gets a popsicle and movie day! And this week we’re going to start giving out some sweet participation prizes to a few random otters, so make sure you’ve at least checked-in in Rally Up!

Current Class leaderboard (top 6):
  • Ebenhoeh (3rd grade): $3,595
  • El Velero 2nd Grade: $2,690
  • El Velero Kindergarten: $1,970
  • El Velero 3rd Grade: $1,915
  • El Velero 1st Grade: $1,790
  • Burlingame (2nd grade): $1,770

October Attendance Focus: Building Habits & Routines

This month we’re highlighting the importance of healthy routines that support regular attendance. Families play a key role in helping students arrive at school ready to learn.
💤 Sleep Matters
  • Children and teens need 8–10 hours of sleep each night.
  • A regular bedtime helps students wake up rested and focused.
🍳 Start the Day with Breakfast
  • Breakfast gives students the energy they need to learn.
  • Even something small — fruit, toast, or yogurt — makes a big difference.
⏰ Create a Morning Routine
  • Pack backpacks, lunches, and clothes the night before to reduce stress.
  • Consistent routines make mornings smoother for everyone.
🏫 Arrive On Time, Every Day
  • Showing up on time builds confidence and connection.
  • Missing just 2 days a month adds up to nearly a month of lost learning in a school year.

👉 Every day counts! When students come to school rested, prepared, and on time, they build strong habits for life.
