From the Principal

Dear Parents,
This Friday marks the final day of our PTO Fall Fundraiser—and we’re almost there! Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already raised $45,000, which puts us at 75% of our $60,000 goal. Just $15,000 more to go!

Your support makes a real difference for Woodward students. Here are just a few ways your donations directly benefit our school community:
  • New Sound System for the Gym – Enhancing school events, assemblies, and performances.
  • Club Advisor Stipends – Woodward offers a wide range of before- and after-school clubs, all led by dedicated staff. Your donations help PTO support ASB in funding these stipends.
  • Deep Dive Programs – Unique learning experiences like student engagement with senior citizens and refugees.
  • INSPIRE: 8th Grade Career Day – More than 10 professionals spend the day sharing their careers and life paths with our students.
  • Living Voices Performances – Powerful, live multimedia performances that bring history to life in unforgettable ways.
  • Books & Classroom Subscriptions – Over $7,000 goes directly to enriching our classrooms with new books and learning materials.
  • Community Events & Student Supplies – From Field Day and the Cocoa & Concert event to essential school supplies—your contributions fund it all!

Thank you so much for supporting our students and school. If you’d like to make a donation, you can DONATE HERE, or drop off a cash/check donation at the WMS front office. Please label your envelope with your name and your student’s name.

Let’s finish strong and reach our goal—every dollar counts!

Sincerely,
Jeannie Donoghue
WMS Principal

Unity Day

Unity Day - Wed Oct 22

On Unity Day, Wildcats stand together for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion!

Wearing orange is a powerful way to show that we care about creating a safe and supportive environment where everyone feels they belong. It’s a bright reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. So put on your orange gear and join us in celebrating the power of unity — because together, we can make a difference!

Healthy Youth Survey

Washington State Healthy Youth Survey 2025

Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey this October. The survey will be administered on the following dates:
  • 8th grade students at Woodward — October 22 during their Science class.

The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to physical activity, unintentional and intentional injury, substance use, interpersonal relationships, school experiences, risk and protective factors, and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities, and State agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. Participation in the survey is voluntary and steps are taken to ensure student privacy. There are no names or codes used to link a survey back to a student.

Please read this very important document with frequently asked questions and information about the survey: Healthy Youth Survey for Parents & Youth

To opt your student out, please call the Front Office at 206-780-4501.

Healthy Youth Survey Information for Families and Youth is also available in:

The Woodward Beat

Step inside the Woodward Beat and hear directly from our students! In this section, students share their unique perspectives, stories, and reflections on what it means to learn, grow, and connect at Woodward.

Taking Center Stage

The Woodward Drama Club has had a great start to the year. The purpose of starting a drama club at Woodward was to give students a chance to gain theatre training, have an opportunity to be in a production, no matter how much previous experience they have, and to provide a safe environment. Recently, three students, Reilly Carl, Lucas Jarman, and Lily Criss, spoke at a school board meeting, sharing what Drama Club is. The club also recently held a very successful bake sale, raising $1,494, which will be put towards the budget of their 2026 spring musical, High School Musical Jr. Thank you for the support!
