From the Principal

Dear Woodward Families,
We are excited to share that Woodward has had a fantastic start to the new school year! We began with fun and engaging team-building activities to help our new students feel connected, welcome our 7th graders and get reacquainted with our returning 8th graders. We also kicked things off with a spirited Welcome Back Assembly, featuring performances by our teachers, as well as ASB teaching new Woodward cheers! So fun!

We truly appreciate your support of our Phones Away All Day policy. We believe students deserve the chance to learn, connect and focus without the constant distractions of devices.

Snacks and Beverages at Woodward:
At Woodward, we ask that students enjoy their meals during their designated lunch period. We recognize that some may need a snack outside of lunch time, which is possible during passing times and in some classrooms as long as the snack is a single-serving, finger-food–style that is healthy and easy to clean up if dropped. Water bottles are welcome and encouraged, but please note that water is the only beverage permitted in classrooms. Any other open drinks will need to be disposed of before students enter classrooms.

Quick reminders:
Picture Day is Friday, September 12th during science classes. If your student is absent, make-up pictures will be offered in October. Please remind your student to avoid wearing green on picture day!

NEW Chromebook Redistribution is Tuesday, September 16th and Wednesday, September 17th. Students will need to bring their Chromebooks and chargers on these days in order to receive their brand new Chromebook.

Thank you, as always, for sharing your amazing students with us. We are looking forward to another great year at Woodward!

All the best,
Jeannie Donoghue
WMS Principal

Picture Day - This Friday!

Say Cheese! Picture Day is this Friday during your student’s science class. If the first photo isn’t quite right, or a student is absent, retakes are set for October 8.

Please do not wear green as they will be using a green screen for the background.

Chromebook Device Protection

New BISD Chromebooks & Device Protection Plan

We are excited to share that all students in grades 6–12 will receive brand-new Chromebooks for take-home use this school year! These updated devices replace the older models that were first issued back in 2021–2022. With this upgrade come a few important changes we want every student and family to understand:

What You Need to Know
No separate insurance needed
Families no longer need to purchase Chromebook insurance. Instead, every new Chromebook includes a Device Protection Plan that covers accidental damages for the next four years. (This plan is managed by a third-party company, not BISD.)

Protection Plan is already included
There is no extra cost for families. The plan was bundled in when the district purchased the new Chromebooks.

Protective shell must stay on
Every Chromebook comes with a hard plastic shell. This cover must stay on at all times. Only BISD Technology staff may remove it.
  • If damage occurs and the Chromebook is returned without its case, the third-party company will charge the district, and those costs may be passed on to families as fines.

Personalize with stickers—on the shell only!

Intentional damage not covered
The plan covers accidental damage only. If there is evidence of tampering or intentional harm, fines will apply, even if the shell is in place.

Possible fines
If fines are issued, amounts will depend on the type of damage and current repair costs.

We know that students (and families!) are excited about these new devices. By following these guidelines, we can make sure Chromebooks last and remain protected for everyone.

Thank you for taking the time to carefully review this information—we truly appreciate your partnership in helping students take care of their new tools for learning!
