Sam Cameron
Dear Blakely Families,

It’s hard to believe—we’re just about a week away from the first day of school! The building has been buzzing with energy as staff have returned over the past few weeks, and I continue to be inspired daily by the passion, intentionality and care our team brings to preparing for your children.

I’ll keep this week’s message short since you’ve been hearing quite a bit from me lately.

Traffic & Arrival Updates
We know that the closure of Eagle Harbor Drive is creating some uncertainty and extra planning for many families. Thank you for your patience as we all adjust to new routines. We expect more drop-offs than usual in the first few weeks, so if your family is able, having students ride the bus will help ease congestion.

Our doors will open each morning at 7:40 a.m., and the tardy bell will ring at 7:50 a.m. For the first week or so, we won’t be marking tardies as everyone gets used to new traffic routes and back-to-school routines. We truly appreciate your efforts in helping students arrive on time.

Meet & Greet
We’re excited to welcome families for Meet & Greet on Wednesday, August 28, from 9:00–10:00 a.m. This event is an important part of our Blakely community—it helps ease first-day jitters, gives students a chance to practice finding their classrooms, and offers staff their first opportunity to begin building connections with students and families.
This year we’ll use a slightly adjusted format to make the most of our time together:

  • 9:00–9:30 – Students may visit their new classrooms and get comfortable in their new space. We are asking that students only visit their new classroom during this time to allow everyone time to focus on this year rather than visit prior years classrooms, teachers, etc.

  • 9:30 – The building will close, and we’ll all move outside to the playground.

  • 9:30–10:00 – Join us for treats and coffee hosted by our PTO while families and staff connect and build relationships. This is also time where students and families can connect with their teachers from prior years and rekindle those memories!

**Just a reminder- our PTO has purchased school supplies for ALL students this year! No need to bring anything for Meet and Greet. See below for more information- thank you PTO

We can’t wait to see you soon and start the year off together with joy, connection, and community! As always, if I can be of any support or you'd like to chat, please let me know.
