Only a few weeks left of school, we still need your help to end the school year strong!
Thanks to all the PTO volunteers that have given so much of your time and talents to make our school an amazing place! Whether it is working in the classroom, creating fun recess activities, organizing special events or making the staff feel special. We could not do it with out you!

Thanks to your generous donations through Move-a-thon in the fall, we have a fresh five-year food and water supply for every classroom in the x̌alilc building!
In addition, all PTOs in the district received a $13,506 grant from the Bainbridge Island Rotary Club to stock emergency supplies like toileting buckets, radios, blankets and more in every classroom.
Now we need your help to organize and distribute these supplies. We are looking for five volunteers to help us fill the supply tubs and distribute them to classrooms.

It’s almost here — the most exciting school day of the year! After months of hard work, our kids are ready to celebrate with a day full of fun, games, and laughter. Thanks to the amazing efforts of PE Teacher Noel Strand, this year’s event promises to be unforgettable. But to make it truly magical, we need your help.
We are looking for parent volunteers who will help lead a fun station activity. There will be two sessions on the morning of June 23rd. The first from 8:05-9:10 (3rd, 4th and Pellegrino) and the second from 9:25-10:30 (K-2). Volunteers will receive an email from Mr. Strand on June 19th with specific details about the day.

MEDICATION PICK UP: Medications can be picked up at the end of the school day on Monday, June 23, 2025, or earlier if needed.
Please remember, if you were unable to sign and return your child’s 504/Health Care Plan, you will need to ensure it is filled out and signed by your pediatrician over the summer. Plans need to be turned into our nursing staff by August 26th, 2025, to be processed in order to notify all staff of your child’s health condition. Medications can either be brought at that time or on the first day of school.
Per Washington State law, if your child has a health condition that requires emergency medication, your child CAN NOT start school without a current 504/Health Care Plan and medication in place by the first day of school.
If you have questions, please contact:

Did you know that BISD utilizes flexible boundaries? This means there are many areas of the Island (unless you live solidly South, i.e. Lynwood Center or solidly North, i.e Seabold) that are considered a flexible boundary area between two (or sometimes three) of our preK-4th Grade neighborhood schools: Blakely, Ordway or x̌alilc.
Per Policy 3130 and Procedure 3130: The establishment of attendance area boundaries for the elementary schools will be completed on an annual basis as follows:
Each year, building and district administrators will meet on a regular basis beginning in April to track enrollment by grade level and identify potential class sizes that may be imbalanced. These regularly scheduled meetings will allow building administrators to identify staffing needs as well as the potential of student shifts that need to occur. As outlined in Policy 3130, building administrators will notify impacted families prior to the end of the current school year.
When it is necessary to move a student between schools, the following criteria will be used to determine which children will be reassigned:
- Special student needs (i.e., special programs, adjustment problems)
- Location of residence (for exceptions see Policy 3131, District Attendance Area Transfers).
- Attempt to maintain all children from the same family in the same school.
- Number of in-district involuntary transfers (Has the child changed schools due to boundary line changes?).
- Date of enrollment.
- Previous school attended.
-
Transportation (can the regular bus routes transport a child to and from the school?)
As we work to balance class sizes between our neighboring schools, we may need to transfer a small number of students. We do not yet know if this will be the case, as it will be largely dependent on how many new students register over the summer, and at which grade level at each building.
At this time, there is nothing that needs to be done. We do not anticipate having enough information to make flexible boundary decisions prior to the summer break, but we will notify families (if applicable) by mid-August.
If you have additional questions, please reach out to Director of Teaching & Learning, Whitney Skarbek wskarbek@bisd303.org.
