Pop up Pertussis Clinic

🛡️ Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Pop-Up Clinic – May 14

Bainbridge Island School District, in partnership with Kitsap Public Health District (KPHD), is hosting a pop-up pertussis vaccination clinic to help reduce the spread of whooping cough in our schools and community.

Clinic Details:
  • Date: Wednesday, May 14
  • Time: 4:00–7:00 PM
  • Location: Commodore Commons, on the Commodore Options School/BHS campus (High School Road)
Why It Matters:
  • Pertussis cases are increasing, especially among school-age children.
  • Tdap vaccination can prevent illness or reduce its severity.
  • Getting vaccinated helps protect those most vulnerable: infants, older adults, and people with underlying health conditions.
What to Bring:
  • Please print, complete, and bring the this registration form if possible.
  • Printed forms will also be available onsite at the clinic.
Learn More:
  • BISD Immunization Requirements

This clinic is a great opportunity for students who are due or overdue for the Tdap vaccine. We know that accessing immunizations has been more challenging recently, and we’re here to support you.

Let’s work together to keep our school community healthy!

Hidden in plain site

Hidden in Plain Sight Event on May 22

The teen years can be difficult. Indicators of teen drug use, mental health concerns, unhealthy relationships, human trafficking, and other risk factors can be hidden in plain sight but easy for parents and other adults to miss.

Joins us to learn about current trends, how to recognize common warning signs, and how to talk to youth about these important issues.

Hands On
Participants will walk through a mock teen bedroom and try to identify 70+ items, which can indicate problem or risky behaviors.

Presentation
After walking through the teen room, attendees will participate in a presentation and discussion which will cover:
  • Identification and discussion of items and how they may indicate problem or risky behaviors
  • Popular local youth trends
  • Tools to help navigate the teen years and discussion points for family conversations
For more details, view the flyer here.

Updated Semester 2 Finals Schedule

Space for all

Kitsap Strong Sponsored Event

You're invited to "Space for All" on Friday, May 30th, 4-6 pm in Bremerton! We'll enjoy a meal, get to know each other, have conversation about the activities that support our wellbeing, and make art. This is an event organized by the Kitsap Strong Youth Leadership Team, which includes students from seven Kitsap/North Mason high schools, to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month. Seating is limited and we are serving dinner and giving gift bags to everyone, so we are asking for RSVPs here: https://forms.gle/XzirW1e7QGGtJz466. Please RSVP and share with friends.

From the Health Room

From the Nurse's Office

The end of the school year is just about here! It is time to review your student’s Asthma, Allergy, and/or Health 504 Plans. We are in the process of sending a copy of your student’s plan electronically. Please review the plan, make any necessary changes, sign, and return it to the school at your earliest convenience. Washington State law (RCW 28A.210.310) requires that all students with life threatening health conditions have the needed medical orders, medication and/or equipment, and a nursing care plan in place, BEFORE THE STUDENT MAY ATTEND SCHOOL.

If you have supplied us with medications for your students this year, please pick up any remaining medication on, or immediately following the last day of school. Unless prior arrangements have been made, all medication that is not picked up will be disposed of on Monday, June 23, 2025.

Medication for next year will require new physician/parent permission forms at the beginning of the 2025-26 School year. These forms are required to be renewed on an annual basis. Medication Permission Forms are available in the school office and on our district website: https://bisd303.org/32665_3

Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your wonderful students with us. Please
reach out if you have any questions or concerns. The BHS Health Room can be reached at 206-780-1264.

Have a safe and relaxing summer!
