BISD is pleased to announce that Sam Cameron has been selected as the new principal for Blakely Elementary School. Sam has served as the principal of Crownhill Elementary School in the Bremerton School District for the past three years. Prior to his role as a building administrator, Sam worked as a teacher in Montana, a teacher at Blakely, and also attended Blakely as an elementary school student himself! Sam’s belief in building relationships, celebrating diversity and advancing inclusive practices were clear strengths identified by the hiring committee.

When asked about this new opportunity, Sam shared, “I am overjoyed, humbled and filled with gratitude in accepting the position of principal at Blakely Elementary. This community first welcomed me as a student, and then as a fourth-grade teacher, and supported me through successes, challenges, and above all else, instilled a belief in who I am. I am so proud to have the incredible honor in rejoining the Blakely family and cannot wait to get started. I look forward to connecting with, and learning from, the community of Blakely students, staff and families.”
