Announcing two new BISD principals

BISD is pleased to announce the selection of new principals -- one for Bainbridge High School and one for Wilkes Elementary School.

BAINBRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL- Kristina Rodgers

For the past four years, Kristina has served as principal of Roosevelt High School in the Seattle School District. Prior to becoming principal, Kristina worked for seven years as one of the school’s Assistant Principals. Her experience also includes serving as Athletic Director for Ballard High School. Before becoming an administrator, Kristina taught Spanish at Ballard High School and Evergreen High School.

The interview team was impressed with Kristina’s leadership skills, as well as her wealth of experience and passion for the high school experience. Relationships are important to her and she believes in fostering a strong school culture. Kristina is a collaborative, supportive leader and looks forward to working alongside BHS staff, students and families.

WILKES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - Whitney Skarbek

Whitney has been a member of the BISD team for five years. This year she has served as Associate Principal for both Wilkes and Blakey Elementary Schools where she has been instrumental in the success of reopening the schools. Prior to becoming an administrator, Whitney taught first grade and worked as a Differentiation Specialist.

The interview team was impressed with Whitney’s ability to see the bigger picture, her relationship-building skills and her commitment to the success of all students.

Please join BISD in congratulating Kristina and Whitney. They begin their new roles on July 1, 2021.
