Announcing the new District Equity Administrator in Teaching and Learning & Associate Principal for Ordway
BISD is pleased to announce that Jill Phillips, currently the art specialist at Ordway, has accepted a new full-time position which consists of two part-time roles: Bainbridge Island School District’s Equity Administrator in Teaching and Learning and the associate principal at Ordway Elementary. Jill has thirty years of experience as an educator. She brings a diverse elementary background to this combined role as she has served as a classroom teacher, early childhood education coordinator, special education teacher, art specialist, and instructional coach.
Jill has two Master’s degrees and her most recent graduate work with the UW LEDE program led her to her passion of fostering culturally responsive and equity focused instructional practices. Jill is passionate about equity for all students and has a deep knowledge of curriculum and student learning. As the Equity Administrator, her expertise will support the work of the district in the development of processes and systems to implement, review, and analyze effective programs and practices through an equity lens.
Jill will transition to her new position on July 1, 2020
