The silence during a recent Analyzing the Modern World lesson was palpable. As part of their history class, ninth graders at Bainbridge High School cycled through six different stations which focused on aspects of the Holocaust such as Jewish life in Europe before the Holocaust, the rise of the Nazi Party in Germany and the Nazi camp system. To explore the topics, students watched videos, read personal histories, examined various pieces of propaganda and then responded to thought-provoking questions.
Special thanks to BHS staff for creating this engaging learning experience. The silence from the class spoke volumes — and as the students left the room, it was evident that the lessons weighed on hearts and minds.
