This year we are highlighting some of the many people who help BISD run smoothly. Let's meet Alan Silcott!
POSITION: Network Supervisor
HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED AT BISD: Six years
DESCRIBE YOUR ROLE: I oversee the Technology infrastructure for the District and keep the network online and safe from external threats. I also adopt and implement technologies that ultimately improve student learning. (I've also been known to annoy co-workers with puns and witty banter.)
FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOUR JOB: I definitely enjoy the variety and challenge. Every day is different and rarely goes as planned. I consider myself lucky if I can make it to my desk in the morning before hearing what *special opportunity* is awaiting me, but solving elusive problems is its own reward.
WHAT IS THE MOST SURPRISING OR INTERESTING PART OF YOUR JOB? This job is responsible for my 15 minutes of fame. I was recently featured on a nationally-televised commercial representing the District. While it’s safe to say my acting career is over, I at least beat my sister's two seconds of screen-time in the Twilight movie.
Thank you, Alan, for helping make sure our network is running smoothly for our students and staff. (And thank you for your great sense of humor!)
