Coach Greg Colby makes waves

Longtime BISD Swim Coach Greg Colby was recently selectedby the National Federation of State High School Associations to receive the 2016 NFHS Coaches Association State Coaches Award for Girls Swimming and Diving.
Greg was the coach of Bainbridge High School Girls Swimming and Diving for 24 seasons, from 1992 to 2016.  During his tenure, Greg accumulated a dual meet record of 222 wins and 44 losses, for an incredible W/L percentage of 83%. The team also notched nine District Champion titles and six State Champion titles
"I swam under Greg Colby from 2000-2004 and I remember my time being coached by him with very fond memories," wrote 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist and BHS grad, Emily Silver. "He was extremely motivational and always energized. He cared not only for our team as a whole, but about each one of his swimmers individually. Because coach Colby came from a college swimming background, competing for the University of Wisconsin, he seemed to build his teams with the same mentality, always striving to push us to our limits in order to achieve our goals."
Greg now lives in Idaho and coaches for the College of Idaho.
