March 30, 2017 marks the 75th anniversary of when 277 Bainbridge Islanders of Japanese descent were sent to an internment camp. Among them were 13 Bainbridge High School students who would not be able to graduate with their class.
To honor the anniversary, BHS staff and students put together this 13 Empty Chairs display. On the chairs are photos of the 13 seniors along with their nicknames and list of activities. What a moving tribute and an excellent visual reminder of what happened.
Special thanks to BHS staff Kirrin Coleman, Jim Seemueller, Larry Holland, Kathy Ellison and students Makaila Deen and Zachary Jensen for facilitating the project.
