Loading the Egg Condos!

A big highlight of the Sakai year has begun!  It is salmon raising season! Our chum salmon eggs arrived on January 13th and have been placed in the salmon tank right in front of the library.
 
Students are encouraged to check out the progress of this year's class of salmon on a daily basis.   There are over 1,000 eggs in the tank. There is a black cloth draped over the tank to keep it dark but kids can peek under the fabric. 
 
Students in the deGuzman, Shockley, McCann, and Walter homerooms also helped to load additional salmon eggs in in-stream salmon incubators that we call the "Egg Condos."  Here are some additional pictures that showcase their efforts:
