All athletes must have a current physical exam on file in the office before turning out for a team. Physical exams are considered current for two years from the date of the exam, and cannot expire during the season. This WIAA Form is the preferred physical form, but we also accept physical forms from pediatrician offices as long as they state that the athlete is cleared to play sports.
All athletes must also have a current baseline concussion test on file in the office. Baseline tests are considered current for two years from the date of the exam, and cannot expire during the season. Concussion baseline testing for winter athletes will be offered November 4, 6 and 13th at Bainbridge High School in Room 207 from 4:00-5:00 pm. The concussion baseline test takes 30-45 minutes to complete and only 30 students can test at one time. Please note that lines have been long.
If you are unsure if you have a valid physical or concussion baseline on file, please call the Athletics office at 780-1254.
The following Club sports are also available to BHS students: Crew, Lacrosse, Sailing, Waterpolo, Gear Grinders, and Ultimate Frisbee. We do not register or collect fees for Club sports; please contact the Club directly.
While club sports are recognized as opportunities for our students to engage in specific sports and activities, they are not overseen by the Bainbridge Island School District and are managed by outside independent organizations. As a result, club sports are not district directed and are not subject to the policies and procedures of BISD. It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to research and evaluate the club sport(s) prior to enrolling students.
Bainbridge Island School District does not sponsor or supervise club sports, and the district assumes no responsibility for club sports’ coaches, volunteers, transportation or any aspect of the club. Questions related to clearance procedures for club sport volunteers should be directed to the organization directing the activity. The Bainbridge Island School District shall be held harmless from any cause of action filed in any court or administrative tribunal arising out of allowing the club sports to be listed on the BISD website. This includes costs, attorney's fees, and judgments or awards.
