Attention Class of 2021!  Puget Sound Naval Ship Yard offers a Work Study Program (Student Trainee). Students must apply in March of their Junior year and must be available to work full time throughout the summer earning GS-1 pay and benefits, then return to school to fulfill your diploma requirements, and then return to work full time at PSNS the last semester of their senior year. Required GPA to enter the program is 2.0. Throughout the summer you will shadow over 15 trades at PSNS and later upon graduation from high school you may apply to be hired. In the past, 100% of students trainees who finish the PSNS program have been offered a job at the WG-1 wage with Federal benefits upon high school graduation. Transportation to PSNS is available from Bainbridge on Kitsap Transit. This is a four-year commitment with paid on the job training and free college courses. At the end of your four years, you may decide to stay on with PSNS or any other shipyard, or you may choose to move into the private sector without any college debt and many new valuable job skills!
