• Dear Students, 
     
    My expectations are pretty simple.
     
    1.  Show up.  Show up with whatever you need to be active in class on any given day: you'll need something to write with, something to write on, and, in many cases, a book or workbook.  I tend to prefer analog approaches to learning, not because they're "old school," but because they work.   
     
    2.  Show up on time.  Chronic tardies will lead to chronic detentions, if you get my drift.
     
    3.  Please be timely in your completion of work.  I'm flexible and generous by nature and will work with you to find you more time, give you help in your learning--but please meet me halfway and don't take advantage of situations of trust or expect that unreasonable demands can or should be met.
     
    4.  Behave towards me and towards each other according to the basic rules of decent living: listen, don't interrupt, be nice, do unto others.  Et cetera.
     
    5.  Do not cheat.  I have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to intellectual integrity, and so should you.  Don't copy or let others copy from you.  Do not plagiarize.  You are welcome to avail yourself of the scholarship of others, but you must cite your sources using MLA guidelines.  I cannot put it strongly enough: NO CHEATING.   Please see the document in "Helpful Resources" that is my policy statement. 
     
    6.  When you need your phone for a class activity, I'll let you know.  When you may listen to music while working, I'll let you know.  Otherwise, phones should be placed in the caddy and stay there.  Be here when you're here.  Thanks.  
     
    7.  Grading follows BHS World Language Department breakdowns.  Category breakdowns are visible on the syllabus and will be reflected on Skyward. 
     
    8.  Practice the language!  Speak French in your head, to your family, to your pets, to your classmates.  Read, listen to music, watch videos--in French!   
     
    All that being said, I hope you have a great year this year.  There's much potential for fun, learning, laughter, silliness and philosophical depth.  Make the most of it!
