Continue working on your one-pager. Take a picture and turn it in by Friday. I will come up with a way to display them for all classes to see.
There will be a "Daily Question" posted in Google Classroom every day that you need to answer as a way of checking in and practicing grammar.
I will be available to answer Language Arts questions on Zoom Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30.
We'll be taking notes on a video about Ancient China - this is due Friday. Don't save it all for the last minute!
I will be moving the SS Zoom time to 11:30 on Mondays.

A "Zoom" schedule seems to be coming together. It's still a bit of a challenge, and certainly not an ideal way to spend time together - but it's good to see everyone's face and check in a little. The sound doesn't always work well, but I got a new computer today - hopefully, that will help. On that note, if anyone is still in need of a Chromebook, it's not too late to get one from Sakai. Let me know.
Mr. Moore and Mrs. Atkinson will decide on "office hours" (a time on Zoom to ask questions) and will post those soon.
Monday - Miller Social Studies Zoom 10:00 am
Tuesday - Thursday LA Q&A - 11:30-12:30 - Pop into Zoom to ask a question or check-in - all classes are welcome.
Friday - Miller Homeroom "Social" Zoom 10:00 am

Some parents on other teams have explained that the Google Classroom Summary email to parents has been helpful if you need help tracking assignments. Here is a link to an example summary: Parent Summary for Google Classroom. Send me an email if you would like to receive this summary every week: email@example.com
Keep working on your one-pager draft. Read the instructions carefully - this assignment requires some edited writing.
Miller "Social Zoom" at 10:00 am today - the link is in SS Google Classroom.

*** Sakai PTO Yearbook Committee is asking that each student submit a photo of themselves doing schoolwork and a second photo doing an enjoyable activity during COVID-19. We would like two photos per student. Please include your grade and name with each photo. Here is the link for parents to upload and label the photos, http://www.plicbooks.com/go/9pQhh. Please submit photos by 4/24. End of year yearbook distribution is still being determined and further information will be forthcoming.
Thank you all for making sure your students are responding to Google Forms. The response was excellent last week.
I understand this is quite a challenging time. Please know we are trying hard to simplify processes while we try to make sure your students are learning. Communication is so important right now - please do not hesitate to reach out if you need help or clarification.
It seems as though about half of the Miller class is completing Social Studies work, and maybe 75% of each team class is completing Language Arts assignments. Please check in with your students to see how they are doing. We are trying to figure out the best way to communicate student progress without overwhelming your inboxes!
Language Arts - the new one-pager assignment has been posted in Google Classroom. The first "draft" is due Friday. Read all of the instructions in the Google Slides carefully.
Social Studies - the rest of Chapter 20 is due Friday - including the Lesson Game. The assignment is in TCI AND Google Classroom ("Turn In " is required upon completion).
We'll have a Miller Social Studies Zoom meeting on Monday at 10:00 am
We'll have a Miller Homeroom "Social" Zoom on Tuesday at 10:00 am
*The team is working on a system to have teacher "Office Hours" on Zoom - hoping to have that in place later this week. In the meantime, it's always ok to ask questions via email.

Happy Friday :) Enjoy your weekend ~ Hopefully, you have most of your schoolwork done so it actually feels like a weekend!
There will be new assignments posted for Language Arts by Sunday evening so you can all get an early start on Monday.
Miller Social Studies - we'll have a Zoom meeting for Social Studies (probably read and go over notes) on Monday the 20th at 10:00 am - look for the link in SS Google Classroom.
Miller Homeroom - we'll have a Zoom meeting on Tuesday the 21st- probably also at 10:00 am. I'll post that link in SS Google Classroom as well.

Thursday for Students:
1. If you haven't filled out the Thank You Google Form for Mrs. Hotchkiss, please do that - it looks like we still need about 20 submissions!
2. LA work is due soon - No Red Ink and Newsela - make sure you are getting it done.
3. There is a discussion question for you to tell me the title of the book you choose as your all-time-favorite. It would be best if it's a book you have a copy of and you remember ;)
Miller Social Studies - make sure you are keeping up with the work in TCI.

A few reminders for today:
Parents and Students:
1. There are new assignments posted in Google Classroom for MAM Language Arts and Miller Social Studies. This work should not take more than 30 minutes a day for each subject - unless of course, you are VERY behind on the Newsela Bingo that was assigned in FEBRUARY ;)
2. Please read over the Zoom guidelines (2 documents) that are posted on the Language Arts Google Site. I am hoping to schedule a "Social Zoom Meeting" soon.
Please remember to check your email every couple of days.
I added a Q&A section on the left. I have never used this feature, so please let me know if it does not work :\

Hello students and families,
I am looking forward to reconnecting with all of you this week :)
Please start here on my website for information and links you will need for school.
I will be posting assignments in Google Classroom, but I will use this platform to communicate as it is much more "parent-friendly".
There are "assignments" in Language Arts for Miller, Moore, and Atkinson and Social Studies for Miller only - again, find them in Google Classroom.
I understand that many of you miss your friends and classmates - I am aware of "Zoom" and am working on a plan to see all of your adorable faces SOON :)
