Career Guidance Specialist/CTE
Career Guidance Specialist-Academic Coach Advisor Bainbridge High School
Career Center, Room 215A
I am the Career Guidance Specialist and work with students in grades 7-12 district wide. At BHS my office is located in the Career Center where I work with students on future planning and career connections while in high school. I help students determine their career goals and road map the educational pathway to get there through career exploration and planning activities and taking students on field trips to tour post-high school training/education options. I work with students interested in going to 2 or 4 year universities, but I also specialize in working with students interested in apprenticeships, military, trade or technical schools or community colleges.
I am also the Academic Coach Advisor/Teacher. This intro to teaching course is a combination of learning introduction to teaching concepts and working in a classroom as an assistant teacher for part of the week. In this program, students are paired with a K-12 teacher in one of the BISD schools where they get to become an integral part of classroom, working with students and the staff member. Once a week I work with students on the "learning" component of the course diving into teaching concepts and activities. An overview of the program can be found here.
