Degrees and Certifications:
Bonjour! I will be teaching French 1 this year.
Families, I use Google Classroom to post assignments, resources, and announcements. If you would like to receive updates from Google Classroom, please send me an email and I will add you to the list. Grades are posted regularly in Skyward.
Once the school year gets rolling, I'll be posting more about the French language and our classwork here. For now, I'll introduce myself. I'm a new member of the faculty this year, though I have been subbing in the district for two years. Some students may remember me from classes I've subbed at Woodward or the High School. I am also the spouse of Mr. Bacon, a popular sub in the district. Our two sons graduated from BHS in 2015 and 2017 and this school year we are host parents to an exchange student who's a junior at the high school.
I teach on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so those are the days I'm on campus. On the other days, you might find me at the library, a bookstore, or at an elementary school in the region, since my other job is writing books for children. My books are for second graders who don't like to read. They're funny and graphical and have silly titles like The Worst Book Ever and The Book No One Wants To Read.
I studied French & American Literature at Harvard University. I also have an Master's degree in Media Ecology (Communication Theory) from NYU and an MFA in Writing for Children from Vermont College of Fine Arts. My favorite French book is Candide by Voltaire and I love the plays of Moliere.
I look forward to introducing the French language and culture to my students this year.
