    Course Description:

Using a combination of online learning and testing, coupled with onsite skill practice, students will master necessary skills for the administration of CPR AED and First Aid for adults, children, and infants. They will learn how to recognize a life-threatening emergency, how to provide basic life support using CPR skills and an AED Trainer to help recognition of an unresponsive victim, review of equipment operation and discussion of treatment and valuable hands-on practice to increase skill and what to do in the case of an airway obstruction or choking.  First Aid training helps participants learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of injuries and sudden illness. Crucial information about how to deal with emergencies like wound care, shock, burns, diabetic emergencies, strokes and seizures is taught online and skills are practiced in realistic settings utilizing actual manikin scenarios involving bleeding, wounds, bleeding control and bandaging and practice using personal protective equipment.  Proper positioning and moving techniques are practiced to ensure care for the protection and monitoring of the essential priorities, airway, breathing and circulation.

This program was reviewed by and meets the guidelines of the Occupational Safety & Health Administration and the Department of Transportation.

The American Safety & Health Institute CPR Programs are based upon the most recent guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiac care.
