Welcome!
I am so excited to meet your students and get started on our learning adventure together. There is never a dull moment in fourth grade with all the great books to read, awesome science to explore (like erosion, the human body, and orcas), state history to discover and math to challenge and keep us engaged. It is going to be EPIC as the kids say.
This is my third year at Wilkes teaching fourth grade and I am thrilled to be teaching here again, at the same grade level and with the same awesome coworkers. The two years before that, I was at Sakai teaching 6th grade LA and Social Studies. The six years prior to that, I was a Special Education Para-Educator working with grades K-8 at Commodore Options.
Over the summer, I have been thinking a lot about the upcoming school year and how I can make it the best year for everyone. I feel strongly that social/emotional health is just as important as academic growth and plan to incorporate lessons that will help the kids grow in their understanding of themselves and the gifts they have to offer our community. I'm so looking forward to discovering all the hidden passions and talents in room 253!
Here is a picture of my family...Troy, Harper, Simon and Tucker!
Harper is starting her "senior" year at Santa Barbara City College and graduated from the BISD in 2016.
Simon is starting 11th grade at Eagle Harbor High School.
Tucker is my awesome 6 year old dog and I hope you get to meet him!
