Ordway Elementary School prides itself on helping all students access enriching learning opportunities. Along with meeting high academic standards, we encourage students to build upon their dependable strengths and contribute to the Bainbridge Island community.  Whether it is through Wyatt House visits, BOSIA and Ometepe philanthropic efforts, Reading Buddies, Treats for Troops, Fighting Hunger through Helpline, or Animal Shelter Support, Ordway students have received awards for their contributions. Through this, we have learned there are many ways for students to discover their interests at a young age to foster life-long learning.

Ordway staff and students understand the importance of expected behaviors that promote a healthy climate both socially and emotionally, where learning is fun, safe, and uninterrupted.  Through the philosophy of Love & Logic and the two curriculums—Open Circle and Social Thinking—students are often seen demonstrating the Ordway 4 B’s, which are:

                                    Be Safe

                                    Be Positive

                                    Be Respectful

         Be Responsible

Our supportive parents, volunteers, staff and district help us to have a multitude of opportunities for students to become positive role models out in the community. As a community of learners, Ordway includes students, parents, grandparents, staff, and volunteers in our continued mission of Caring to Learn, Learning to Care.  We have an active Parent Teacher Organization that supports enriching activities and family events. We have many community building activities throughout the year including Math Night,  Bingo Night, Sock Hop, Concerts, Book Fair, Science Fair, and our famous annual Ordway Carnival.  Families and staff agree, Ordway is a building full of heart and full of fun!
