Mrs. Barrett
I currently live in Poulsbo with my husband and three daughters. My oldest daughter, Lily, is nine years old and loves dancing. She is a fourth-grader this year. My twins, Abigail and Sophia, just turned six in April. They will be first graders this year. My husband, Kyle, is a commercial electrician. We enjoy scuba diving together and spending time with our girls. We do have one other guy in our house. Olaf is a Maltese-Shih-Tzu mix, he is a cute, fluffy ball of fun!
I grew up in the Poulsbo area; I'm glad to be raising my daughters in North Kitsap. I love being in a small town where everyone knows your name.
In 2005, I graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor's in Childhood Development and a K-8 teaching certificate. After substituting for a year in North & South Kitsap school districts, I taught Music for a year at what used to be Christ the King Academy in Poulsbo. I then moved to Arizona to be closer to my brother and his family and help them out as my sister-in-law returned to school. While I was there, I taught 6th-grade Language Arts and Reading at a middle school in South Tucson. I was inspired to further my education, so I moved up to Bellingham, WA, where I worked as a graduate assistant and finished my Masters in Education, with a concentration in literacy, at Western Washington University. After finishing my Masters, I worked at a K-12 private school in Mukilteo, teaching fifteen 6th-8th graders. I taught all subjects, except science. I also taught the high school students a class in Journalism, and I taught Music to the whole school! The following year, I was hired at Moorlands Elementary in Kenmore, WA. I taught 6th grade for three years before we decided to move back to this side of the water. I was hired here at Sakai in 2014.
I am so excited to teach the age level and subjects I love!
