• Watching the salmon return in the fall is an amazing experience!

Where do the salmon return to?

This is a map that shows where coho salmon return to each fall on Bainbridge Island.  The green dots indicate that they have been spotted there.  The black circles indicate places where there is a block in access for them.

Here are three videos that help students discover the best places to watch salmon in the fall.  The final video is footage from the 2012 coho return to our own stream.  This footage was taken as a part of the Watershed Council's volunteer salmon walks.

  • Coho Returning to our Creek!!!

Last Saturday, I was able to walk our stream with the salmon count volunteers from the watershed council.  We were near Wardwell Road and were able to view 7 coho returning.  We counted five females and two males.  I captured this video on a Flip camera.   While it is not the greatest nature video ever produced, you can see how they swim upstream with their bodies nearly out of the water, moving from one deeper pool of water to another.
