Current Benefits (Ends 12/31/2019)
Benefit Eligible Employees
Certificated employees with at least a .467 FTE contract and classified employees who work at least four hours per day are eligible to participate in the districts’ benefit program. These employees receive a state contribution for the cost of premiums.
Required benefits at no cost to employees include dental, vision and long term disability insurance. Dental and vision plans cover the entire family. Medical insurance is an optional benefit that is subsidized by the state allocation. Short-term disability is another optional benefit that is paid by the employee.
Most positions qualify for state retirement plans with a district and employee contribution. For state retirement information contact Pamela Sloan, Payroll Officer, 206-780-1062 or email@example.com or go to www.drs.wa.gov.

All existing health plans through the Bainbridge Island School District (BISD) will terminate effective December 31, 2019.
Starting in the 2019-20 school year, all Washington State K-12 school employees will begin receiving health insurance and benefits through the statewide School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Program.
The SEBB Program will replace the health and insurance benefits BISD currently provides. The first SEBB Program open enrollment is October 1–November 15, 2019. Benefits begin January 1, 2020.
SEBB open enrollment will be from October 1 to November 15, 2019. During this time, all employees will need to take action by electing or waiving benefits through SEBB. The SEBB enrollment will be entirely online through SEBB My Account.
The SEBB offerings will be similar to what is currently offered in BISD. Below is a summary of benefit offerings, program eligibility and how health insurance will be funded. You can learn more about the SEBB Program by visiting the SEBB website and you can learn even more about the plans and enrollment through the SEBB enrollment guide.
