A Letter from the Superintendent
Dear BISD Families,
Welcome to the start of a new year in the Bainbridge Island School District! Our district’s mission is to help all students become successful learners, caring individuals and responsible citizens. Whether you are new to our district or have been with us for years, we are excited to begin a new cycle of learning and growth with you and your child. This annual handbook outlines some important district policies and serves as a resource for essential details such as schools’ start and dismissal times, lunch prices and links to transportation schedules.
I also recognize that in addition to excitement, there can be some nervousness and jitters about the new school year. To every student and parent, please be assured that our staff members are here to ensure that students feel safe, welcomed and respected at school. From our bus drivers to our kitchen staff to our teachers, BISD staff work hard to support all students in our system. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s experience, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher, counselor, or principal for assistance. If after reaching out at the school level you believe you need further support, do not hesitate to contact my office at 206-780-1052.
The District Office is always so quiet around the summer. However, it won’t be long until I hear the BHS marching band practicing on the field outside my office window, and soon the familiar yellow school buses once again take to the roads. As both a parent and an educator, this is always one of my favorite times of the year!
