Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to 6th Grade! I'm excited to have you as part of my math class this year!
I'm a Northwest Washington native and have lived on Bainbridge Island for over 18 years. I have a 20-year-old son who's a junior at Western Washington University in Bellingham, a 16-year-old son who is a junior at BHS, and a 6-year-old black lab named Koda. Outside of school, I love to run or hike local trails, go boating on the sound, spend time with friends and family, and travel.
I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, and then -- after working as a paraeducator while my kids were younger -- earned my Masters in Teaching from City University in 2011. Altogether, I've been working in the Bainbridge Island School District for over 11 years. I've spent the past several years teaching 5th and 6th grade, as well as providing reading and math support to students in 3rd-8th grade.
What I love most about math is that -- like all great puzzles -- it provides such fantastic opportunities to practice solving problems. Whether or not you think you like math or are good at math, the process of engaging with math is time well spent, and I hope all of you feel engaged, have fun, and enjoy many personal successes this year in my class.
