      District adopted comprehensive balanced literacy program which focuses on comprehension strategies in whole group and small group instruction.

      40 Book Challenge

      Independent reading challenge to encourage each child to read a variety of books and explore new genres. Students are given time in class to read, but to reach their goal students must read everyday in class and at home.

      Novel Studies 

      Small discussion groups all reading the same novel.  Dicussions focus on comprehension strategies, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.
