Why Mentorship?
Thank you for your interest in the Bainbridge High School Girls Golf Mentorship Program. The primary goal of the program are to build relationships among current youth golfers (6th-8th) and the high school varsity athletes. These relationships are beneficial to both the younger athlete and the high school player. It is the hope that this new program will expose the younger players to what it is like to be a varsity athlete at the high school level. The varsity athlete will gain a bond with the younger athlete and mentor the player through golf outings at local golf facilities. There is annual fee of $35 for this program and it will be limited in number.Go Girl Golf
Go Girl Golf is a non profit started by Coach Havill in 2007. The history of Go Girl Golf began when Coach Havill was teaching young golfers at Interbay Golf Center. When conducting large group youth clinics and camps, it became apparent that very few girls were participating in the programs. Coach Havill began to investigate the inequity of participation by speaking with the female participants and their parents. The feedback was not complex. The female players were attracted to relationship based programming. Skills were important, but not the focus. Go Girl Golf helps fund programming that encourages participation and enjoyment of the game of golf for girls grades 5-12.
