I am so excited to be your child's first grade teacher!
A little background about myself...I grew up in southern California where I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies (elementary education) at Cal State University at Long Beach. After finishing my student teaching, I married my husband, Sean, a Coast Guard helicopter pilot, who has whisked me all over the country. I earned my Master's Degree in Reading Education at University of South Florida while teaching first grade in Tampa, Florida. Since then, I have lived in Massachusetts, Indiana, Virginia (twice), California and Michigan. My teaching experiences range from first grade to elementary reading specialist to instructing and creating Master's Degree instructional reading courses. I was even a Student Teacher Supervisor for Old Dominion University. I taught 4th grade my first three years at Ordway and decided to switch to first grade last year. I also continue to be a mentor teacher for the district.
Sean and I have two children. Our son is a senior at Bainbridge High School and is on a quest to find the college of his dreams (sniff, sniff), while our daughter will be attending the high school as a freshman (and avoiding her brother at all costs). We all have enjoyed our past four years on Bainbridge Island and continue to take advantage of everything this community has to offer.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, walking, going to the beach & amusement parks, trying new foods, shopping on Amazon, and researching ways to become a better teacher.
I'm looking forward to a fabulous year!
