Welcome to Marine Science!
I'm looking forward to exploring the ocean with you this year! We are heading into the uncharted waters of hybrid/online learning but lucky for us, the field of marine science is comfortable with the uncharted and unexplored! Did you know that less than 5% of the ocean has been explored? Our class may look a little different than it has in the past but with flexibility, patience, and grace, I know we're going to have an incredible year of discovery, science, and learning. If our seas grow rough and stormy, we're going to channel everyone's favorite Royal Blue Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus) and just keep swimming!
Students: Use the menu to the left to navigate to your class (hybrid vs. online). There you will find the syllabus and Google Classroom codes. Make sure you enter the correct code for your class period! Google Classroom will be an essential resource for our class this year as this is where you will find all our assignments and learning resources.
Families: Please navigate to the course of your student using the links to left to see our Week at a Glance. This is updated weekly and will give you an idea of what we are studying in class and what your student should be working on. You can also sign up to receive the Weekly Summary email through Google Classroom. Please email me if you would like to be added to the list.
“There’s nothing wrong with enjoying looking at the surface of the ocean itself, except when you finally see what’s going on underwater, you realize you’ve been missing the whole point of the ocean. Staying on the surface all the time is like going to the circus and staring at the outside of the tent.” -Dave Barry
