BHS teacher to present at the National Association of Biology Teachers Conference

For BHS biology and chemistry teacher Bernice O'Brien, science has been a part of her life ever since she was a young child exploring a farm in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. As a teacher she hopes to "open students' eyes to the natural wonders that surround them daily and reconnect them to the process that sustains life," she wrote.
And next  month, Bernice will share her passion and joy of teaching with other science teachers from around the country when she presents at the National Association of Biology Teachers Conference in Denver, Colorado.
Her presentation, entitled Now You See It, Now You Don't: Patterns in Ecology, will discuss the natural world and the unlimited patterns one can explore. Participants will engage in activities that will bring to life the Next Generation Science Standards and the role patterns play in biology.
Congratulations, Bernice! Way to make Bainbridge Island School District proud!
