Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year at Sakai! I'm Sakai's Dean of Students. A Dean of Students is, for most purposes, like an assistant, associate or vice-principal. I assist Mr. Corsetti in facilitating student instruction, monitoring and enforcing student behavior expectations and making sure that Sakai is a safe and secure place for student learning. Among other things, I am a "go to" administrator for you on questions about the highly capable program, Math Olympiad, student behavior, bullying and harassment and safety and emergency procedures. My regular days at Sakai are on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. But you can call or e-mail me anytime. My pre-Sakai career includes stints as a middle school assistant principal, high school business education teacher, school board member, Seattle lawyer, and small education business creator/director. My wife and I live in Seattle with our pet parrotlet, Conrad. My two daughters are in their early twenties; one is a college senior and the older one lives in Boston. My favorite activities include hanging out with kids, playing soccer, being a baseball & fastpitch fan (and umpire), reading, cooking and spending time with my wife and daughters (even if a lot of it is on Skype and the cell phone).
