For Information regarding SST's and Special Education Referral, check-out "Wilkes Special Education Parent Handbook", located on this site under "Helpful Resources"
The "Whale Pod" at Wilkes Elementary is a Special Education Resource program for students experiencing academic and/or social difficulties and who qualify for special education services in grades K through 4. Student services include specially designed instruction in small groups, 1:1 academic instruction or social skills groups of 4 or 5. If you are concerned about your child's academic or social development, begin by talking with your child's classroom teacher. He or she can direct you toward the special education referral process. If you would like to speak confidentially, please feel free to contact me at the above telephone or email address or contact our school counselor, Sharon Pratt or our School Psychologist, Maria Kuffle. You are also welcome to stop by and look in or make an appointment with me. We are currently located in room 19, or the Wilkes old staff room. We are a friendly and welcoming place and both students who do and do not receive educational support, enjoy coming by to visit at recess, check out my swing and gum ball machine and to chat. We want all students to feel comfortable and welcome.
