Teacher Evaluation

  • Monthly training sessions for teachers new to the Bainbridge Island School District
  • Continued professional development centered on effective teaching strategies and the Charlotte Danielson Teacher Evaluation Framework including the procedural steps of the Comprehensive and Focused observation/evaluation cycles.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the various instruments, forms, evidence, and measures of student progress.
  • Develop an understanding of student growth measures and how to use data to drive instruction.


 Developing and using classroom data;

How to integrate standards, readiness data and curriculum to design tiered instructional plans (instructional ladders);

Understanding how to analyze growth data for individual student, classroom, grade-level, and school improvement that will assist in developing an action plan to drive academic growth outcomes for all learners.

Understanding how to evaluate areas of strength and concern.  How to use growth analysis to set goals and build action plans that communicate with students and parents.

Continued work on aligning and integrating Common Core Standards with State and district formative and summative assessment data.

 Continued implementation of K-5 My Math Adoption.

 Continued focus on K-12 articulation and computation.

 Implementation of 6-8 Connected Math CCSS Edition

Alignment of instruction K-12 to Common Core State Standards.

Develop strategies to address needs of highly capable students.



Further develop understanding and skills in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of a wide range of students including Multi Tiered Levels of Support (MTSS) for student needing additional support and strategies for working with highly capable students.

Develop strategies that will assist teachers to effectively respond to diverse student learning characteristics using pre-assessment, grouping, and assessment strategies.

Develop practical strategies for differentiating instructional content, process and product.


Introduction to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGS)

Development of Pilot for K-4 Science Specialist

Implementation of Advanced Placement Science materials

Continue Program Review focused on grades 6-12 to align with NGS.


Technology training for new hardware/ equipment used by certificated and classified staff (laptops, LCD projectors, document cameras, Smartboards, etc.).

Technology training to improve student learning by providing an environment that fosters a passion for learning and develops and supports skills necessary for career, college and life in the 21st Century.

Technology training to improve teaching by connecting educators to data, content resources, expertise and learning experiences that enable and inspire more effective teaching for all learners.

Technology training to measure what matters and use assessment data for continuous improvement.


STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics)

Implementation of the K-4th STEM Lab program focused on NGSS Engineering Standards. 

Intended to improve the likelihood that our students will select a STEM related field after graduation.  To do so will require an enduring focus on building basic math, science and application skills starting in the elementary grades all the way through High School.
