    I'm really enjoying this cleverly spun tale by Kathi Appelt.  She's so easy to read but her ideas make you think and imagine!  This story is part myth, part realistic fiction, imaginatively set on the Gulf Coast of Texas.  Mermaid lovers.......you may have found your next best read in this little gem.

    I have always wanted a blog.  So many books, so little time.  Check here regularly for what I and the students at Blakely are reading and loving.  This month's favorite for me was "Wonderstruck" by Brian Selznick.  Check out my bookshelf for other recommended titles.
