Decision to apply an insecticide for tent caterpillar infestation - A decision was made in conjunction with the BISD Integrated Pest Management Committee and in consultation with the Washington State Department of Agriculture to professionally apply an insecticide for the removal of tent caterpillars at Wilkes Elementary School on May 22 and 23, Wednesday and Thursday, from 3 - 7 PM. 

 

We know this time for teacher training is a gift from the community, and we thank you for it.   Teachers do a great amount of work on their own, but without dedicated  time to meet, learn, and work together,  practices can become disjointed form one class to the next and teachers don't have time to share and learn from one another and from others with greater expertise in specific areas.  Teachers have tried to do this "on the fly" in past years, but this Monday training time focused directly on district and building improvement goals is essential to create a system of greater consistency, clear goals for all students, a rigorous and aligned curriculum, and a system to measure student achievement and growth.
