How-To Connect to BYOD

Bring-Your-Own-Device or "BYOD" allows students and staff to connect their personally-owned wireless capable device (phone, tablet, laptop, etc...) to the District's wireless network.  Before utilizing BYOD, please review our policies and procedures.  To connect to our BYOD network, devices must first be enrolled with our system.  Devices can be enrolled from anywhere they have Internet access whether in-District or not.  Once enrolled, the device will have access to the BYOD network for 1 year.   After a year, device enrollments will expire and will need to be enrolled again.
 
Off-campus or using personal data: 
  1. Go to: http://bisd303.org/enroll 
  2. Login using your district Windows username and password
  3. Follow the directions provided for connecting your device 
  4. Your device should now automatically connect to the "BISD-BYOD" network when on-campus.
On-campus:
  1. Connect to the "BISD-BYOD-ENROLL" network.  (If prompted, do not remember or connect automatically to this network)
  2. Open a web browser.  If not automatically redirected to the BYOD enrollment page, then go to: http://bisd303.org/enroll 
  3. Login using your district Windows username and password
  4. Follow the directions provided for connecting your device. 
Note: A device only needs to be enrolled once per year.  If you continue to be redirected to the enrollment page, the device is most likely auto-connecting to the "BISD-BYOD-ENROLL" and thus blocking access to "BISD-BYOD".  To correct this, go into the devices Wifi settings and forget the "BISD-BYOD-ENROLL" network.
 
BYOD Compatibility as of 2/7/2017
  • Windows XP and later
  • Mac OS X 10.7 and later
  • Apple iOS 6 and later
  • Android 4.0.3 and later
  • Ubuntu Linux 12.04 and later
  • Fedora Linux 18 and later
Other devices and OS versions may still work by selecting the manual configuration option.
If the operating system is not on this list, it most likely isn't supported and will not work on our BYOD network.
 
 
Please note the following regarding BYOD
  • The District is not responsible for troubleshooting personal devices.  
  • Internet traffic will be filtered to block inappropriate content.  
  • District traffic will take priority over BYOD traffic. 
  • District resources such as files and printers will not be available on the BYOD network.  (This does not apply to cloud services such as Google Drive and Google Cloud Printers)
  • Services may be blocked or limited on BYOD to ensure optimal performance for the district network.  Example: Streaming Media, Software Updates and App downloads.
  • Traffic can be monitored on the BYOD network and device access can be revoked if used inappropriately.
  • Devices not compliant with the BYOD compatibility list will not be supported.
