First Day of School - September 1
Registration is now open for BISD’s Middle School FTC Robotics Club. The goal of the club is to encourage students’ interest in science, technology, engineering and math by participating in the FIRST Technical Challenge robotics competition. Details for this year’s competition will be out soon -- but it will definitely involve building a robot as well as other skills such problem solving and public speaking / presenting.
The club is limited to 40 students. Preference will be given to students willing to enroll in a 7th period (after school) Robotics Class through BISD. Non-district students can enroll as part-time students. Enrolling in the course commits students to attending 75 hours of club meeting and competition over the school year. Students enrolled in the class will receive 0.5 CTE credit. If more than 40 students register for the club, then a lottery process will be held to determine membership. Registration will remain open until 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 2nd.
When: 2 - 5 p.m. on Sundays and 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.Tuesdays (tentatively) from Sept. 6 through December or January (depends on the team’s success)
